Auditions were held before Christmas to select the very best singers, dancers, actors and models to represent Ireland in this year’s WCOPA. There will be over 50 countries taking part in the Olympics style competition. There will be an Opening Ceremony just like the Olympics, where each country will parade their team on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Competitions will then be held throughout the rest of the week. The Closing Ceremony will be aired live on the internet and at a later date on FOX TV/NBC and other TV stations with the Overall Champions of the various Performing Arts Categories performing live.

The competitions will be adjudicated by Worldwide Agents & Casting Directors, Record labels, Top Choreographers and other Showbiz industry reps. Not only will our talented bunch have the opportunity to compete, but they could also end up being snapped up for a Hollywood film or signing a record label.

Team Ireland has not been at the WCOPA event since 2010. Previously our very own IFTA 2013 Nominee SEANA KERSLAKE from Tallaght was the recipient of a scholarship to New York Conservatory of Drama, AISLING DOYLE from Naas won a Summer Scholarship for 2 years at Millenium School of Dance, and many of the Irish Team won medals, trophies and also participated in various agency jobs whilst there. Kerry’s DARRAGH KELLIHER won Overall Drama Champion in 2009 and moved over to Los Angeles after he was recruited by Infinity Talent Management. SUSAN WARD and PHILIP EMMETT won Overall Singing Duo in 2010. Many of the Team Ireland members from 2009 and 2010 have gone on to become well known faces in the Irish Showbiz industry (FAIR CITY, RTE JUNIOR PROGRAMMES, TV ADVERTS, FEATURE FILMS, SHORT FILMS, ANIMATIONS, PANTOMIMES, MUSICAL THEATRE, THEATRE, PRINT and more)
